Downhole View of Rod Pump with Apergy
In this video, we interview Scott Gillespie with Apergy, a company centered around artificial lift. Their rod-lift model is perfect for visually observing what happens downhole! In the model, we have a pump barrel, a traveling, and a standing valve. The traveling valve ball opens as the pump travels down and the standing valve stays closed. The two balls on each valve work in conjunction with each other in order to lift fluid up and out of the well. We also observe common issues with rod lift units such as fluid pound from inefficient pump fillage due to pumping too fast.
