Conventional Wellsite Tour
In this video, I check out a local conventional wellsite in SW Ohio. This site, like many across our country, has a vertical conventional well on rod lift (with a pump jack). I start off by discussing some basics of artificial lift. From there, I discuss some of the basic components of a typical conventional wellsite. In case you’re pressed for time, check out the SHORT list below. (I go into more detail in the video, so be sure to check that out.)
- Wellhead – where the hydrocarbons exit the well and travel towards the production equipment
- Separator – Once the hydrocarbons reach the surface, they must be separated. On many conventional sites, such as this one, the separator will be a two-phase separator (meaning it separates liquids from the gasses).
- Gas sales meter – Once the gas is separated out of the well stream in the separator, it travels through the gas meter and then into the pipeline.
- Liquid holding tanks – Once the liquids are separated out, they then are stored in production tanks (2 x 100bbl tanks in this case).
